The Cassaday & Company holiday party took place at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. For this event, not only did I do the event photography, but I also brought a small team with me to take formal portraits of guests and print them on-site so that the guests could take the photos home at the end of the night. This Smithsonian museum is such a great location with tons of interesting things for the guests to look at while they strolled through the exhibits. For corporate events – this place can’t be beat.
National Gallery of Art Engagement Session: Chris and Jamie
I enjoy hanging out in art museums, so any time I can do a session in a museum, I get really excited. Chris and Jamie’s engagement session took place at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. The contemporary section is so rich with colors and textures and graphics. It’s fun to insert people in different spots and play with them. We met at the museum and roamed around together. The building has such gorgeous light. This is a great indoor location for an engagement session in DC!
Charlottesville Virginia Corporate Event Photographer – Pippen Hill Farm and Vineyards
CustomInk knows how to throw a party for their employees and their event in Charlottesville Virginia was no exception. The party took place at Pippen Hill Farm and Vineyards. Beautiful white snowflakes and twinkle lights would have made my Frozen-loving children jealous. Personally, I was more intrigued with the fact that this is the place that is rumored to have been the location where Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux exchanged wedding vows.
Washington DC Engagement Photo Session: James and Allison
My engagement sessions are typically a time to hang out with my brides and grooms and get to know their mannerisms in front of the camera. One of the things I have them do is just have fun and act like they normally would if there wasn’t a camera capturing their actions. For James and Alison, I made them walk around and do silly stuff. They both seemed a bit reserved at first, but when I asked James to run toward me he grabbed Alison’s hand and they ended up skipping and laughing all the way down the street. Let me tell you, James is a world champion skipper! He really took it to the next level! They had so much fun playing, I didn’t have to ask them twice to get on the swing.
What I love about engagement sessions is how casual and laid back they are. The session isn’t necessarily about the place or anything going on around, but about the couple. It’s a time to let them enjoy the company of each other and have fun. I love learning the personalities of my couples at the engagement session, so on the wedding day, I can capture who they truly are.
Holiday Sparkle – The Village Rockville – Rockville Maryland Corporate Event Photographer
Holiday Sparkle at National Lutheran Communities and Services is an event I look forward to every year. I love seeing everyone’s familiar faces and seeing their dedicated and caring staff enjoy each other’s company and share in the spirit of Christmas … And I’ll admit I do get a kick out of seeing them get a little silly in the photo booth as well.
This years party was especially fun for a couple of reasons – the first being that I had the opportunity to print portraits on-site for the guests to take home with them at the end of the night, and there is no better feeling than hearing a gasp of surprise at how much they love the photograph that I took from someone who normally dreads having their photo taken. For some, it was the first time in a long time that they had had their photo taken with their spouse or good friend or colleague and that made me happy. The 2nd reason this years party was especially great was because it was the first time I was able to work an event with my new Studio Manager, Jennilyn. Jennilyn has been part of my team for a couple of months and in that time she has become my right hand. She is also my editor, my task master, my scheduler, my keeper-tracker of loose ends, my cheerleader, and dear friend. She makes me sparkle year-round.
